Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Salary: Up to £28,500
Working Hour: Full-time, including shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties
Service: Children’s Home
Service Users: Children with Learning Disabilities (LD)
Qualifications Required: Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent
Experience in Years: Previous experience working with children, particularly those with learning disabilities or additional needs (essential)

We are seeking a compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated professional to join our team as a Team Leader/Deputy Manager. The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience (preferred but not essential), strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality care for children with learning disabilities. You will play a key role in mentoring staff and ensuring the home runs smoothly to create a positive and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide direct care and support to children with learning disabilities, ensuring safety, dignity, and well-being at all times.
* Oversee and support staff to effectively manage behaviours and promote self-control in young people.
* Assist the manager with daily and weekly tasks, including updating documents such as the Statement of Purpose, Regulation 45 reports, and risk assessments.
* Ensure staff adhere to company policies and procedures, providing effective supervision and mentoring sessions.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, promoting their emotional development and self-confidence.
* Implement tailored care plans to support the growth, independence, and learning of each child.
* Safeguard children by identifying potential abuse or neglect and following company safeguarding policies.
* Participate in recruitment and training to enhance team development and improve the care experience for young people.
* Manage challenging behaviours calmly and professionally using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
* Monitor children’s progress and document behaviours and changes in needs or care requirements.
* Support staff in promoting teamwork to enhance the children’s experiences.
Qualifications and Skills
* Essential: Diploma Level 4 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
* Supervisory experience is advantageous but not essential.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with children and staff.
* A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays, with sleep-in duties.
* Full driving licence, including business insurance.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with relevant legislation and policies.
