Job Summary
UK Strategic Command (UKStratCom) is one of four Defence Commands and is a Top-Level Budget (TLB). As Defence’s integrator, we bring together a number of organisations including our Headquarters, Defence Intelligence, Defence Digital, HQ Defence Medical Services, Defence Support, Permanent Joint Headquarters, Special Forces and Directorate of Overseas Bases. We are responsible for ensuring that the five warfighting domains of maritime, air, land, cyber and space are integrated which gives UKStratCom a pan-Defence role. The UKStratCom Headquarters’ staff provide vital strategy, planning, governance, resource and capability oversight.
UK Strategic Command’s Digital, Data and Automation Team are seeking a detail-orientated, proactive Business Analyst to join our team. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to capture and analyse business requirements, translate them into technical specifications and ensure that the final product meets business and user needs. You will engage with process owners, developers and other teams to understand business processes, how they can be improved and detailing the benefits which can be realised through introducing positive technical or process changes.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
The UK Strategic Command Digital, Data and Automation (DDA) Team strives to optimise business processes and produce better data, to make Strategic Command an efficient, data driven command. As a TLB Team, we oversee and support digital teams across our organisation and are responsible for ensuring that digital solutions align with UK Strategic Command and MOD policy.
In This Role Your Tasks Will Include:
* Gathering and analysing information about new projects to understand and articulate their potential benefits.
* Collaborating with customers to identify and define requirements, objectives and priorities.
* Detailing and validating business requirements and user stories.
* Translating business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications for developers.
* Supporting the development team throughout the development life cycle, ensuring requirements are met through testing.
* Facilitating communication with process owners, users, developers, and other relevant teams.
* Conducting user acceptance testing where appropriate to validate that solutions meet the business needs.
* Monitoring project progress, managing and resolving issues.
Person specification
* Previous experience in Business Analyst role.
* Experience working in an Agile environment.
* Confident in leading discussions.
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. The post does not offer relocation expenses.
External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
