We are seeking an ambitious, strategic leader as our Associate Director of Clinical Services (Children & Young Adults) to join the Director Team at Dougie Mac. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this senior leadership role is pivotal in shaping the future of children’s and young adults' palliative care across our area. As a key member of the hospice’s executive leadership team, you will be responsible for the operational, financial, and strategic delivery of all clinical services for children and young adults. You will lead multi-professional teams, ensuring a high standard of person-centred, holistic care, while driving continuous improvement and innovation in service delivery. You will play a vital role in ensuring that children, young adults, and their families receive the highest quality palliative care by embedding best practices, enhancing workforce development, and ensuring the effective governance of all clinical services. In addition, you will work closely with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to influence national and regional healthcare strategies, positioning Dougie Mac as a leading provider of children’s and young adults' palliative care. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership and clinical expertise, ensuring high-quality, safe, and responsive care. Lead and manage multi-professional teams, embedding best practices in paediatric and young adult palliative care. Oversee clinical governance, including risk management, incident reporting, and compliance with national and local regulations. Drive service development, ensuring that children, young adults, and their families shape the care provided. Monitor performance data, reporting to the CEO and Board on service effectiveness and areas for improvement. Manage budgets and resource allocation, ensuring cost-effective service delivery. Establish and maintain key stakeholder relationships with health and social care providers, advocating for integrated, high-quality services. Ensure recruitment, training, and professional development of nursing and care staff align with the hospice’s values and objectives. About You This is a senior leadership role requiring an exceptional clinician and strategist with a passion for paediatric and young adult palliative care. You will be a confident and inspiring leader, capable of driving change and fostering a culture of excellence. We’re looking for someone who has: RGN/RSCN qualification and a strong background in paediatric/young adult palliative care. Significant senior leadership experience, with a proven track record in developing and managing clinical services. Experience in strategic planning, governance, and budget management. Strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management, and service improvement. Excellent ability to engage with stakeholders, influencing at local and national levels.
