Job Title: QC Chemist Technician Summary: We are currently recruiting for a QC Chemist Technician to join our team in Abingdon, UK. The successful candidate will be working within a small team, supporting all testing requirements across our manufacturing plant through analysis of raw materials, intermediates, and final products. Responsibilities Include:
1. Carrying out all quality related product, raw material, and water testing and release.
2. QC representative for “standard” production support issues. Offer advice on remedial action where batches are out of specification.
3. Strict following of company safety protocols, work policies and practices, including relevant risk assessments, compliance with PPE policy, accident and near miss reporting, and housekeeping standards.
4. Communicate effectively with other departments (Inc. Technology Process Tech team, warehouse, production), auditors to ensure quality standards and requirements are met.
5. Carry out EP, USP (European and US pharmacopeia) and internal tests of raw materials and final products.
6. Testing, maintaining test results and setting samples for EP/USP pharma stability programs.
7. Working to a high level of good laboratory practice.
8. Work with Technology team to scale up new products and process translations.
9. Maintain quality documentation (inc. log books, calibration documentation, pharmaceutical testing records) so they are always ‘audit ready’.
10. Maintain all database systems.
11. Maintain good record of rework and out of specification products.
12. Entering results to Company Operation System.
13. Carrying out equipment calibration and checks.
14. Assisting with support projects (ex. validation testing).
15. Be forward thinking and look to improve testing and efficient running of the laboratory.
16. Check retained reference samples and store them in an appropriate manner.
17. Responsible for maintaining and preparing stocks of reagents.
18. Maintaining laboratory consumables stock.
19. Being able to interpret quality results and present them.
20. Might be involved in helping other quality lab sections (like micro or analytical) by ex. preparing samples or reagents.
Qualifications:
The following are required for the role
* 1+ years Quality laboratory experience and Good Laboratory Practice is required for this role.
* Good standard of written and spoken English.
* Good level of computer literacy including a good understanding of Microsoft office suite – Particularly Excel and Word.
* Understanding of the requirements of a busy QC laboratory.
Preferred Qualifications
* Analytical testing knowledge.
* Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline.
* Specific silicone chemistry or a discipline that directly impacts our business (i.e. pharmaceuticals, food, personal care, etc.).
