The main responsibilities of the role include:
1. Processing the full range of planning (and related) applications, including preparation of recommendations and reports to the Planning Committee.
2. Preparing appeal questionnaires and planning appeal statements.
3. Assisting and liaising with the Enforcement Team to ensure compliance with planning legislation.
4. Responding promptly and tactfully to planning enquiries from the public, developers, elected Members, other Council Departments, and others.
5. Occasionally attending meetings of relevant Committee and Sub Committees.
6. Supervising the Planning Technician in the validation and registration of planning (and other) applications.
7. Assisting the Team Leader in delivering the planning service and undertaking any other duties reasonably required by management.
The successful candidate will need to have experience of working in a development or related environment, be educated to A Level standard (or equivalent), be conversant in IT, retain good interpersonal skills, and be able to demonstrate experience in managing their own workload.
The successful candidate also requires a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
