Our new start-up client is a precision optical solutions company, offering highly specialised expertise in optical (precision optical), mechanical, electrical, software, and systems integration.
They have established an already successful European operation at their base in Dunfermline and, having invested significant capital in their plant, are looking for experienced manufacturing technicians with a background in CNC to set up and operate high precision optical manufacturing equipment to fabricate optical components.
This is an exciting time to be joining the company at the beginning of their journey. Reporting to the UK General Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape the business and drive the strategy on precision optics in cutting-edge technologies, where precision and performance are key differentiators.
Responsibilities include:
1. Set up and operate high precision optical manufacturing equipment to fabricate optical components.
2. Programme and optimise process parameters for specific optical materials.
3. Perform high precision surface metrology measurements utilizing interferometers and other high precision instruments.
4. Evaluate and optimise process parameters and address any deviations from desired tolerances.
5. Maintain detailed records on machine parameters, process adjustments, and generate reports on process performance and yield.
6. Manufacture high precision optical components/assemblies to the highest standard.
7. Inspect and qualify own work (and that of others) to ensure the highest quality of product is manufactured.
8. Ability to read technical drawings and process notes to complete all manufacturing operations.
9. Evaluate existing manufacturing processes (CNC/Traditional) and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
10. Maintain data input to the company ERP system, ensuring operational data and labour hour postings are accurate.
11. Assist in the implementation of LEAN and CI practices across the organization, reducing waste in material consumption and process flow.
12. Ensure the production area is clean and tidy at all times and free from trip and slip hazards as far as practical.
13. Provide operational manufacturing support when required as part of company progression.
14. Support training of new and existing processes, training of new operations/technicians.
15. Support any additional role relevant activities to achieve company objectives.
We are keen to speak with candidates that have gained similar experience in a manufacturing environment or similar high precision manufacturing sector. They have already established a fantastic working culture and excellent company benefits including leisure facilities on site.
