Your new company
Our client is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The company supplies, services, repairs and replaces train doors on train stock across the country. This role will involve travel to various sites around the country working on the replacement, upgrade, overhaul, and repair of orders. The role will involve working away from home when required during the week and the role will also involve night work when required.
Your new role
The role will involve but not limited to the following duties:
* Attend customer premises for the repair, overhaul, and upgrade of systems related to the core portfolio.
* Conduct training, instruction, and application of work processes at customer sites.
* Understand malfunctions, suggest corrective measures, and undertake related activities according to work instructions.
* Troubleshoot and integrate existing systems, implement preventative measures, and assess warranties.
* Independently process replacement and repair orders in conjunction with the administrative team.
* Prepare work reports and document assembly processes and progress.
* Provide technical support and execute agreed services from service contracts.
* Identify and repair assembly and functional defects on various assemblies.
* Document errors and damages, record defective components, time spent, and feedback production orders for further processing.
* Complete mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical assembly of complex assemblies according to drawings, parts lists, and work instructions.
* Review and amend work instructions for on-site contractors.
* Be flexible in working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
* Be willing to travel and stay away from home as required.
What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have the following skills & experience:
* Experience in an engineering discipline or completion of a recognised qualification.
* The ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Experience in a customer-facing role.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Mechanical qualifications.
* Electrical qualifications (advantageous).
* Readiness to travel up to 50% of the time.
What you'll get in return
Salary depending on experience, £35,000 to £40,000. 28 holiday days rising by one each year of service to a maximum of 33. Company pension. Death in service. Overtime rates above contracted 38hrs per week. x1.33 over Weekdays, x1.5 Weekends, x2 Nightshifts. Company van where required.
