Wright Brothers Industrial Services are looking for a Design Engineer Apprentice to complete a Level 3 Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician apprenticeship to join their team. The successful candidate will spend the first 24-months of the role seconded to various departments within the business gaining a full working knowledge of how our various engineering departments work and the processes and procedures within the company. This will include site work (steel erecting/mechanical fitting), pre-assembly in our workshop, and fabricating (welder/plater disciplines) in our Fabrication Workshop, gaining valuable knowledge of what is required to produce accurate designs for our vastly diverse projects.
Role & Responsibilities:
Engineering Design is a very highly skilled technical role that requires you to work within a multidisciplinary design team, designing a wide range of mechanical and structural installations. Our Apprenticeship Programme will equip you with new skills and knowledge of the following:
* Produce technical drawings, models and designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and various other design programmes
* Visiting sites and carrying out detailed site surveys
* Understand the importance of maintenance of existing equipment and manufacture of new parts when required
* Problem solving and fault-finding
* Installation, testing and adjustment of plant and machinery to ensure it is running smoothly, safely and meeting required standards
* Use of different tools such as hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment
* Importance of health and safety and familiarisation with industry guidelines and regulations
Skills Required:
* IT literate
* Familiar with the basics of CAD

* Enthusiasm and interest in engineering
* Ability to work in a team

Things to Consider:
During the first year, you will be required to attend the University of Sheffield AMRC Training Centre in Sheffield, full time for an initial block of study. You will return to your workplace one Friday per month. After the initial block training, you will attend the AMRC Training Centre for one day a week to undertake the knowledge study. The remaining four days will be spent in company learning on the job.

* GCSE English language C or 4 or above
* GCSE Maths C or 4 or above
Applicants are also required to successfully complete a series of assessments at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre, as well as an employer recruitment and selection process to secure a place on an apprenticeship programme.
