Job overview
We are looking for a Patient Environment Assistant (Porter) 35 hours per week on a 3 week rolling rota. Including weekend work.
You should be hard working, punctual and able to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
The aim of the role is to support the clinical teams in maintaining the optimum environment for our patients. The main duties are to support patient movement, removal and disposal of waste, handling of medical gases.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, daycase and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* Driving Licence
* Basic Numeracy and literacy skills
* NVQ qualification in cleaning sciences or equivalent
* Certificate in COSHH
* Certificate in Health and Safety
Experience
* Previous operational manual handling experience
* Deal with internal and external communication using both verbal and written material
* Knowledge of cleaning in a large setting or Health Care environment
Skills, ability and knowledge
* Ability to deal with information sensitively and confidentially
* Deal with a diverse range of people face to face
* Able to communicate within a team and provide feedback to colleagues and line managers
Personal Qualities
* Ability to travel between the Trust sites as required
* Ability to have a flexible approach to work patterns when required
* Deal with day to day workloads linked to hygiene procedures and able to follow written cleaning schedules
* Reporting equipment breakdown and faults on work equipment to supervisors
* Deal with day to day workloads in food hygiene procedures, able to follow written schedules
* Having the abilities in listening, sharing and receiving support and advice
