We're looking for a People Manager who is passionate about supporting and developing teams.
In this role, you’ll be the go-to person for guidance, problem-solving, and career development—helping team members navigate challenges, from workload management to personal growth. You’ll have the backing of our Head of Business Operations and a dedicated HR team, ensuring you can make a real difference.
Beyond team support, you'll also contribute to recruitment, resourcing, and social value initiatives—bringing variety and impact to your role. No HR or technical experience? No problem. All you need is a genuine passion for people and a drive to help them thrive.
This role will require 2-3 days onsite at either our Portsmouth or Salisbury sites.
What you'll be doing:
* Staff guidance for personal and professional development.
* Supporting/facilitating staff induction and onboarding.
* Scheduled performance assessments, feedback, including use of corporate tools e.g. Career Hub.
* Probation management.
* Supporting in promotion assessments and readiness preparation.
* Recognising and acting on exceptional performance e.g. raising recognition awards and organising other bonus arrangements.
* Checking on staff wellbeing and actively supporting or signposting appropriately.
* Leave and absence management, including return of assets.
* Dealing effectively and sympathetically with professional, personal, and disciplinary issues, including Performance Improvement Plans.
* Dealing with Occupational Health and Sickness issues (with the support of HR).
* Support and take part in staff recruitment/interviews.
* Completing administrative tasks in a timely manner.
What you'll bring:
* Open, consultative, empathetic but decisive personal style.
* People Management experience, including team leadership, tasking, and assessment skills or similar.
* Experience of SMART objective setting and measurement.
* Good communication and active listening skills when handling various scenarios such as conflict management, coaching, negotiation, and influencing.
* Very good interpersonal skills.
* Able to develop good working relationships with colleagues.
If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
