Why Rolls-Royce?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant and Equipment Project Engineer within Rolls-Royce Submarines Business in Derby.
In this role, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of multiple elements of an engineering project. You will be working across multiple disciplines and lifecycle stages to ensure that the areas under your responsibility meet both our engineering and project requirements. You will interact with various stakeholders, both internal and external to the business, to be successful. We are looking for a skilled engineer; although experience with nuclear facilities is advantageous, we are open to hearing from those interested in redeploying their existing capabilities in a new area. What is most important is having the right approach; you need to gather all the required expertise and stakeholders together and understand and organize a variety of technical information to deliver the right solution at the right time.
Our Submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, and through-life support of nuclear propulsion-related products and systems in support of the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Regeneration of the Raynesway Nuclear Licensed Site. This major infrastructure programme is replacing the current facilities with modern state-of-the-art manufacturing capability. For you, this means unique opportunities to shape the future of the Submarines business.
We offer excellent development, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits, including bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working allows our people to balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. As a minimum, we expect attendance in the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
What you will be doing:
* Creation and maintenance of technical requirements and associated verification & validation activities.
* Ensuring that the engineering solutions meet all project and technical (including safety) requirements.
* Stakeholder identification, engagement, and management.
* Acting as an intelligent customer for activities carried out by suppliers.
* Leading the engineering packages through the gated review process.
* Working with the project management team to ensure that schedules, risks, costs, and resource requirements are understood and maintained.
* Ensuring that regulatory and legal requirements are met throughout.
Who we’re looking for:
* Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a STEM subject with experience in a relevant highly regulated engineering environment.
* Qualifications relating to health and safety such as IOSH or NEBOSH are desirable.
* A Chartered Engineer or hold an affiliate/associate membership of a relevant professional body or be working towards Chartered/Incorporated status.
* Demonstrated appreciation of a wide breadth of engineering topics relevant to nuclear facilities.
* Experience of producing and reviewing health and safety documentation.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver projects successfully.
* Experience of multiple stages within the engineering lifecycle is advantageous.
* Experience of working with contractors is beneficial.
We are an equal opportunities employer. We’re committed to developing a diverse workforce and an inclusive working environment. We believe that people from different backgrounds and cultures give us different perspectives. By building a culture of respect and appreciation, we give everyone who works here the opportunity to realize their full potential.
To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines, you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently have this in place. Due to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets, you must hold a UK nationality. Any dual nationals will require additional scrutiny and background checks prior to commencing work with RRSL.
