The Company: At Theo James Recruitment, we partner with a global leader renowned for their expertise in the research, development, and manufacturing of complex gas sensing products and systems.
Job Description: This role ensures newly designed products are effectively transitioned to production, enabling the manufacturing team to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets.
Main Responsibilities/Key Tasks:
1. Deliver all aspects of Manufacturing Engineering through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, adhering to company and product quality standards, including ISO 9001.
2. Provide robust designs and processes to the Manufacturing team, ensuring estimated product yield, quality, and labor times are achievable.
3. Collaborate as part of a cross-functional design team, championing and executing design for manufacturing from initial concept through to product release.
4. Promote and implement continuous improvement tools and lean manufacturing throughout the Operations team.
5. Identify and address areas for process improvement regarding quality, cost, and manufacturing time.
6. Specify and procure new equipment in line with the demands of new products and manufacturing processes.
7. Contribute to resource estimates for new projects.
8. Manage time effectively across multiple NPI projects and communicate progress against plan to the wider team.
9. Design and input manufacturing routings within the company's MRP system.
10. Work with the Production support team to achieve departmental targets and KPIs.
11. Develop an understanding of a large portion of the product portfolio and build manufacturing knowledge.
12. Engage in personal development and stay updated on new manufacturing technologies relevant to the company.
13. Develop detailed and accurate work instructions in CAD and written documents.
14. Must be able to acquire security clearance for MoD/Military access.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
1. Degree / HND Qualified in a relevant subject
2. Competent in electronic fault finding and manufacturing tasks such as soldering and electrical wiring
3. Understanding of safe working practices in a factory environment
4. Experienced in root cause investigation and problem-solving methodologies such as 8D
5. Computer literate and proficient in word processing and other document systems
6. Ability to create accurate work instructions for product manufacturing and review processes for improvement
7. Effective communicator across business levels and departments
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of programming and PLCs
2. 2+ years of Electrical/Electronic Practical Production Engineering Experience
3. Experience with continuous improvement techniques, such as Lean Manufacturing
