These are exciting times for Occupational Therapists wanting to make a difference to people's everyday lives. Community Mental Health Services are in the process of improvement and transformation and OT is at the heart of these changes. We recognize the value of meaningful roles and activity to improve mental health outcomes and create brighter futures. In the CTT, we strive for quality and use the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) to guide our evidence-based practice and inform our holistic assessments, 1:1 and group interventions (Recovery Through Activity).
We work alongside a variety of people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties and try our best to understand how a person's motivation, routine, skills, and environment can impact on their activity levels. We strive to work collaboratively to support people in overcoming any barriers to engagement in meaningful activity by working on individual formulations, care plans and goals to enable personal recovery. We also aim to work with a variety of services to ensure the best possible outcomes for people; third sector, The Recovery Colleges, voluntary services, primary care, drug and alcohol services. The CTTs are busy, interesting, and challenging places to work. We hold complex caseloads, and our role is valued within a multi-disciplinary team framework. We maintain an occupational focus in the team and contribute our unique perspective throughout a person's CTT journey. We contribute to the screening and triage process, formulations, and wider complex case discussions.
We are looking for confident, motivated, kind people with excellent risk assessment and problem-solving skills, great communication and decision-making skills. People who want to develop their OT practice, advocate for OT and to keep learning and developing so that we can improve our Recovery outcomes.
We are a lovely OT team with some amazing supportive and dedicated staff. We have many opportunities for personal and professional development, clinical and peer supervision, OT Best Practice Forums, and CPD opportunities. This role would suit someone who wants to develop from a Band 5 to Band 6 or a current Band 6 who wants more experience in mental health or community.
We are so delighted you are considering coming to work with us at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTW).
We know the power of looking into an organisation, one you might want to work in, or one where you are going to get help, and being able to say, 'I've seen somewhere I can fit in and be myself.' We're on a journey to make the Trust an inclusive employer, representative of the community we serve and we want more of our community to consider applying for jobs with us.
