Role: Purchasing Manager
Location: West Sussex
Term: Permanent

My engineering client is looking to take on an experienced Purchasing Manager on a permanent basis in the West Sussex area.
Attributes:
1. Previous experience working in a Supply Chain / Procurement / Purchasing Manager role for circa 8+ years preferably
2. CIPS qualification Level 6
3. Good line management / leadership skills shown in previous roles
4. Have held this type of role in a similar engineering manufacturing environment
5. Experience working with electro-mechanical / electronic components ideally
6. Great skills with negotiation and working directly with suppliers
7. Be able to work well with and develop a team of Buyers
8. Proficiency working with ERP / MRP systems
9. Good knowledge of lean processes for improvement
10. Proficiency working with computers including MS Office
11. Excellent communication skills and organisational skills
Responsibilities:
1. Working closely with other departments such as Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, and Sales
2. Co-ordinating the supply of materials and assemblies
3. Ensuring company targets are met
4. Negotiating contracts and terms and making savings where possible
5. Taking ownership of the supplier portfolio
6. Always driving continuous improvement in the department to ensure best performance and practices
7. Developing effective purchasing strategies
8. Mentoring and leading the Purchasing team
9. Always adhering to the Company’s ISO9001 QMS
