Job Summary
The Deputy Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the overall operations of our care facility, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained for all residents. This position involves collaborating closely with the management team to implement care plans, oversee staff performance, and provide leadership in delivering exceptional care, particularly for residents with dementia and other complex needs. The Deputy Manager will also be responsible for medication administration and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Duties
1. Assist the Manager in overseeing daily operations within the care home or nursing home.
2. Develop, implement, and review individual care plans for residents, ensuring they meet their specific needs.
3. Provide leadership and support to nursing staff, fostering a positive work environment that encourages professional development.
4. Administer medication as prescribed and monitor residents for any side effects or changes in condition.
5. Conduct regular assessments of resident care and wellbeing, making adjustments to care plans as necessary.
6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe environment for both residents and staff.
7. Engage with families and guardians to communicate updates on resident care and address any concerns.
8. Participate in training programmes to enhance personal skills and knowledge related to dementia care and assisted living practices.
Skills
1. Proven experience in a similar role within a care home or nursing home setting.
2. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
3. Knowledge of medication administration protocols and experience in providing direct care.
4. Familiarity with developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
5. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an empathetic approach towards residents and their families.
6. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining a focus on quality care delivery.
7. Understanding of dementia care principles and best practices in assisted living environments.
