Job Title: Design Manager
Business Unit: UK Construction
Reporting To: Divisional Design Manager
Office Location: Reading
Construction South is part of the UK Construction business and includes the Wales and West, and the South East. Projects on average range between £5 - £50 million and are primarily based in the Public Sector with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health, and Commercial offices.
Role
1. Appraise and ensure BREEAM obligations.
2. Generate contractors’ proposals for submission.
3. Set design deliverables for each consultant and CDP contractor and schedule drawings, specifications, and other design information required for construction.
4. For D&B, identify and agree drawings/samples for Client satisfaction and produce a programme of critical dates for Client approvals.
5. Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals, outstanding information required, subcontractor design, and environmental/CDM issues.
6. Review design information at tender and construction and report on Value Engineering Construction, Statutory compliance, and Contract Coordination.
Skills & Experience
1. Strong industry experience from either an architectural or project management background. Must have experience of a similar role on a project in excess of £5m.
2. Experience of both design and build and traditional contracting.
3. Ability to communicate positively and effectively.
4. Technical and design skills.
5. Understanding of the design and construct process.
