The Medical Secretary team are looking for a driven individual to join the team.
In this role you will provide secretarial assistance to Senior Medical Secretaries/Consultants/nursing staff at Band 3 level. You will also liaise with other colleagues in the team to contribute to the smooth running of the department. You will be well organised and used to dealing with the public efficiently and politely.
Excellent word processing/fast, accurate typing is essential for this post. Knowledge of audio typing (analogue and digital) and medical terminology is desirable.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide an efficient, confidential and reliable service to specialty teams.
This will include administrative and secretarial support to enable the provision of patient care and specialty services. Good communication skills are essential to ensure a proficient, high-quality service for patients and clinicians.
The post-holder will be expected to work as part of a Specialist Team and will report to the Senior Medical Secretary/PA and Medical Secretary Manager.

Person specification
Qualifications/Training and Professional Development
* Educated to GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy.
* NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent experience or RSA level III or able to demonstrate equivalent skill (proficient and accurate audio typing skills minimum 60 wpm).
* IT capable to ensure proficient use of hospital computer systems.
Experience
* Experience of using Microsoft Word
* Experience of working in a team
* Previous secretarial experience in a hospital/medical office environment
* IT experience of Microsoft Office packages
* Experience with audio typing in a secretarial setting
Skills, abilities, and knowledge
* Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
* Good written and verbal communication skills with a good command and understanding of English, punctuation and grammar
* Good interpersonal skills for dealing with people internal and external to the organisation.
