Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
Our client is a rapidly expanding geotechnical design consultancy, part of one of the UK’s leading specialist ground engineering contractors, offering a range of additional services.

Due to continued expansion and an abundant pipeline of works, our client wishes to appoint a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to plan, prioritise, and manage site-based field testing and accompanying laboratory works. You will work on multiple schemes simultaneously, with responsibilities comprising various geotechnical testing activities in the field, analysing, interpreting, and reporting on the results, ultimately proposing the most appropriate choice of methodology for ground treatment or stabilisation/improvement.
The Role
1. Supervision of site-based testing, including soil sampling, then analysing and reporting on the results, utilising the company’s in-house laboratory if required.
2. Collect and organise data to produce a variety of reports for internal teams and clients.
3. Safe, profitable, and timely delivery and management of all assigned responsibilities on numerous sites and projects.
4. Input to proposal writing, and interpretative reporting and factual report writing.
5. Ensure professional relationships (internal and external) are developed and maintained to maximise opportunities for successful project procurement and delivery.
6. Responsible for site visits, assessments, and surveys, including client meetings to ascertain project specification requirements.
7. All technical works shall be carried out in accordance with relevant standards, codes, guidelines, and quality procedures.
The Person
1. Applications are invited from recent Graduates possessing a relevant geotechnical engineering degree.
2. Ability to manage and deliver on your accountabilities on time and within budget.
3. You will be expected to combine site work with office or lab-based technical duties.
4. Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to relate to all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
5. Familiarity with relevant technical industry requirements/regulations, either through studies or practical work experience.
6. Excellent numerical skills including data interpretation.
7. IT literacy with the use of Microsoft packages.
8. Local to the West Lothian office/lab.
