We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our waste team as the FLIP Mechanical & Electrical Technician based at Mogden Sewage Treatment Works.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of FLIP (Flooding Improvement Process) devices throughout the Thames Water area. You will inspect, fault diagnose, and maintain devices fitted at properties, ensuring safety, efficiency, and timeliness with minimal supervision.
You will join a specialist team maintaining FLIP devices across the Thames Water region. This team is unique in maintaining these active drainage devices crucial for protecting properties from flooding caused by main sewers.
Working on specialized equipment, you will gain skills and experience that are unique within the company.
You will work in a small, close-knit team, often in Central London, making a tangible impact on customers with properties at risk of flooding.
PPE, tools, and a van will be provided.
Responsibilities as the FLIP Mechanical and Electrical Technician
1. Carry out routine planned preventative and reactive maintenance of sewage drainage system Flip devices in restricted chambers.
2. Perform electrical or mechanical installation work at properties and sites where Flip devices are installed.
3. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults.
4. Report on the condition of Flip devices, and identify spares and service requirements.
5. Provide technical advice and training support for trainees.
6. Liaise with external customers at properties with Flip devices.
7. Adhere to health and safety policies.
8. Be able to lift manhole lids in difficult access positions and climb ladders.
Base Location: Mogden, Isleworth, TW7 7LW
Working hours: 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm, with standby rota (additional pay). PPE, tools, and a van are provided.
Qualifications and Experience Needed
* Time-served apprentice with experience in electrical systems in a multi-skilled capacity.
* Electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial.
* Upskilled in mechanical qualifications for inspection, maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, and repair of mechanical and electrical plant.
* Willing to develop dual-skilled capabilities if only experienced in one area.
* Knowledge of health and safety issues.
* Physically fit to work in restricted spaces and complete necessary training.
* Valid driving license; all equipment provided.
