SEMH / SEN Teaching Assistant
Role location: Stockton
Starting date: Immediately
Salary: £95-£110 per day
Working hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-3.30pm
Empowering Learning are currently working with a popular primary school in Stockton who require Teaching Assistants to start ASAP.
Are you a passionate, dedicated and experienced teaching assistant looking to use your skills to support more challenging disengaged pupils? If so, then maybe a role at our Pupil Referral Unit is for you. This role will be challenging but ultimately rewarding and a great way of gaining more complex experience.
Role Overview:
Special educational needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants will work with school staff to provide support and guidance to children who experience difficulties in learning due to social, behavioural or emotional problems. As a behaviour mentor, you could work on a one-to-one basis or with a small group.
Within this job role, it is important to encourage the children to communicate with you, finding a way together to overcome any behavioural problems and progress in education. Typical responsibilities include:
1. Supporting pupils inside and outside the classroom.
2. Helping pupils increase their confidence and self-esteem.
3. Agreeing and writing action plans to deal with problems.
By using your skills and previous experience, you will make a remarkable contribution to many children's lives and future potential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting children with challenging behaviour and SEND on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
2. Building positive relationships with students and staff.
3. Managing challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive manner.
