HR Assistant – Join the Team at Mizkan, Middleton!

We are looking to recruit an enthusiasticHR Assistantto join our team in Middleton. Mizkan is a global food company, producing well-known brands including Sarson’s, Hayward, Branston, and OSU.
In this role, you will provide essential administrative support to the HR team at Middleton, ensuring smooth and efficient HR operations. This role encompasses a wide variety of HR tasks, including employee record management, absence monitoring, policy compliance, employee wellbeing and supporting the Senior HR Advisor and leadership team in delivering HR initiatives.
Your New Role:
* Ensure GDPR compliance with HR records (electronic and paper) for Middleton-based employees, including employee changes, recruitment, contract administration, HRIS input, starter and leaver processing and all related documentation.
* Provide general HR administration, including ad hoc queries, updating HR databases, managing references and ensuring professional handling of all communications.
* Supporting line managers and Senior HR Advisor with Time & Attendance (T&A) administration, including holidays, absences, overtime, shift changes, and lateness.
* Coordinate with Senior HR Advisor on new hire paperwork and onboarding procedures.
* Monitor sickness trends and ensure timely, compliant absence management, including proactive interventions.
* Assist in the resolution of employee queries, providing guidance on HR-related matters such as policies, procedures, and benefits.
* Maintain site compliance with HR-related legislation, such as WTR, GDPR and CCTV
* Collaborate with the Senior HR Advisor and people managers to implement action plans from the annual employee engagement survey.
* Support internal communications and site-specific recognition schemes.
* Participate in regular cross-site HR team meetings, offering mutual support and sharing best practices.
* Undertake agreed projects and initiatives as required, contributing to HR strategy and team objectives.
* Promote employee wellbeing and support the development of new ME HR ways of working.
* Take accurate notes during HR meetings, investigations, disciplinaries, interviews, and other employee-related meetings.
* Assist with recruitment and selection process, including screening candidates and scheduling interviews, sending offer letters and requesting references.
* Coordinate Occupational Health and Physio appointments and related communications.
* Organise and support the professional and timely administration of Induction and onboarding activities.
* Provide administrative support for leadership team activities, site visits, and any other HR-related events.
* Assist with internal communications and ensure noticeboards are regularly updated with relevant information.
* Contributes to the regular review of HR processes which continuously improve the employee life cycle and manager effectiveness
What You Will Need to Succeed:
* Studying towards or completed CIPD Level 3
* Strong organisational and administrative skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with GDPR and HR policies.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to build effective relationships with staff at all levels.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
* Previous HR experience or relevant administrative experience in a similar role is an advantage.
