Project Manager
Our Client is looking for an enthusiastic Project Manager with a can-do attitude to support their project within the new turbine hall at Hinkley Point C Nuclear New Build site in Somerset. The project includes electrical installations, cable pulling, prefabrication, and installation of instrumentation.
The Project Manager, reporting directly to the Project Director, provides leadership to the site teams and is responsible for scheduling, workface planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control, and ensuring the safety and productivity of the teams at the workface, including site installations and associated cabling installs. As a key participant in the relationships with other contractors, company and client.
Responsibilities
The Project Manager has the following specific areas of responsibility:
SAFETY
Must champion and provide leadership that results in a safe work culture. Responsible and accountable for the safety of the teams under his direction and must understand and accept the importance and legal liability of the role. This may include:
1. Knowing and understanding the requirements of and liabilities under the Health and Safety Act
2. Ensuring compliance with the safety regulations and safety policies and procedures
3. Identifying needs for team safety training and facilitating delivery of training
4. Participating in and monitoring safety toolbox meetings
5. Ensuring completion of initial safety and hazard assessments
6. Participating in safety/incident investigations and reviews
7. Ensuring timely responses, actions, and corrections to any safety issues
LEADERSHIP and SUPERVISION
Coordinates teams and is accountable for the efficient organisation of teams. This may include:
1. Organising manpower as required
2. Assessing competency and capability of Construction teams
3. Communicating the job to and with the Construction Team
4. Assigning tasks
5. Supporting job training for apprentices
6. Recognising, addressing, and resolving issues among crews
7. Setting and maintaining work standards
PLANNING and SCHEDULING
Accountable for following project plans and schedules. This may include:
1. Identifying and verifying that the field installation work package is complete
2. Translating general work requirements into a prioritised work plan
3. Reviewing and adjusting specific workface activities
4. Working with the teams to overcome challenges
5. Identifying and reporting scheduling conflicts
QUALITY CONTROL
Accountable for ensuring the work done meets standards. This includes:
1. Overseeing the execution of the work, including quality and production
2. Reviewing inspection reports and coordinating resolutions to deficiencies
ADMINISTRATION
Accountable for the preparation of reports. This may include:
1. Ensuring Supervisors logs or diaries are maintained
2. Reporting on team production and work progress
3. Approving material requisitions
Knowledge, Skills and Attitude
Knowledge: Knows and understands project construction scope and objectives, safety programs, and how to read drawings.
Skills: Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, and apply problem-solving skills.
Attitude: Shows willingness to learn, takes responsibility, and is a role model.
Requirements
1. Mechanical / Electrical Degree / HND / HNC or relevant experience
2. Professional Registration desirable (Chartered or Member)
3. Has completed CILM Training
4. CSCS Managers & Professionals or CCNSG
5. 5 or more years' experience in a similar field
6. BPSS Security Vetting desirable
7. IOSH / NEBOSH Desirable
Salary: £70-95 depending on experience. Permanent role with a car allowance of £425. Hybrid working not preferred, but could discuss this for the right candidate. No accommodation allowance as it is reflected in the salary being offered.
