The role:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Group Payroll Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will support the timely and accurate processing of employee payroll and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company policies. Reporting directly to the Group HR Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining payroll records, processing statutory payments, assisting with payroll reporting, and providing excellent support to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Administration
* Assist in preparing and processing payroll across multiple pay cycles for employees.
* Accurately input and maintain payroll data, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, and deductions.
* Process statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, and other entitlements.
* Support monthly and year-end payroll processes.
Compliance & Reporting
* Support payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting requirements.
* Ensure payroll compliance with all relevant tax and payroll legislation and company policies.
* Collaborate with the wider HR team to ensure accurate payroll reporting and data integrity.
Employee Support & Communication
* Respond promptly to payroll-related queries from employees and internal stakeholders.
* Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll-related activities.
Person Specification:
Qualifications, Experience, and Personal Attributes:
* Previous experience in payroll administration or as a payroll assistant is preferred.
* Strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, and best practices.
* CIPP Level 3 or equivalent certification is desirable but not essential.
* Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* A team player with a proactive and collaborative approach.
