We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Engineer (Reservoirs) to join our Engineering and Infrastructure team in Inverness. You will efficiently and safely assist in the management of projects contributing to the integrity of the canal network. Protect the heritage and environment of the network and increase the number of people using the waterways. Assist the Project Manager to ensure that projects deliver the agreed outcomes as determined by SC and/or third parties. Protect SC s interests and support SC s aims and values. The role is offered on a permanent basis, and with a starting salary of 34,165 (Band D), working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. With full support and guidance, the main responsibilities of the role will be : Work with the Project Manager to assist with scoping and planning low risk projects. Regularly update systems with required project information and generate milestone reports where required. Work with the Project Manager to ensure that projects comply with Management of Contractors Direction and CDM regs. Work with the Project Manager to record project expenditure. Ensure that the plan is constantly updated and reflects changes in the project. Record project meetings. Assist Project Manager to produce regular reports on the project including budget, programme, risk, safety and quality. Monitor performance of project suppliers (internal and external) in the deliverables of the project and their compliance with specified requirements and health and safety. Report any concerns to Project Manager. Work with the Project Manager to manage project risk using SC defined risk management systems. Escalate significant risk related issues to appropriate management. Ensure that environmental and heritage issues are considered at all project phases in conjunction with the E&H team. Update all stakeholders regarding project works that directly affect customers use of the waterway network, throughout the life of the project. Work with the Project Manager to review project performance following completion in accordance with SC s defined processes and standards, highlighting any areas for improvements or elements of good practice to be considered in future projects Qualifications and knowledge required: Educated to Honour's Degree minimum in Civil Engineering. Equivalent experience in relevant discipline desired evidence of commitment to continuing professional development. Skills and experience required : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook An effective team player with the ability to cope with changing circumstances and demand Highly numerate with an attention to detail Qualities & abilities required : Open, honest, transparent, flexible, open minded, inclusive and adaptable to change Disciplined and able to manage degree level study and a busy job role Strong communication skills Additional requirements Due to the project nature of our business, the successful must be willing to travel and stay away from home when necessary.
