Key Result Areas
1. Maintain medical equipment: Ensure compliance with Safety Regulations, Codes of Practice, and agreed Policies of operation across all sites, providing an efficient and effective maintenance service. Participate in the departmental out-of-hours on-call system.
2. Conduct operational maintenance: Ensure optimal efficiency and maximum use of specialist equipment.
3. Maintain equipment history records: Ensure accurate and up-to-date records are held in a system facilitating easy information retrieval.
4. Provide equipment specification advice: Maintain records of schedules and actions taken regarding specifications, modifications, or Hazard/Safety Notices for easy access.
5. Costing information: Provide costing information for repairs and parts to assist in budget monitoring and stock control. Conduct stock checks for spares, tools, and test equipment to maintain appropriate stock levels.
6. Instruct Clinical/Nursing staff: Advise on the safe and proper use of equipment, ensuring staff are informed and can use the equipment efficiently.
7. Advise patients and carers: Provide guidance on the safe use of medical equipment, ensuring care and confidentiality.
8. Engage with Company Representatives: Discuss potential new equipment purchases and maintenance, fostering good relationships with outside companies.
9. Undertake necessary training: Update skills and knowledge for effective performance in a specialist area and share knowledge with colleagues through demonstrations and presentations.
10. Retrieve information: Provide timely information as required by Clinicians and Senior Nursing Staff or other Professionals.
11. Supervise apprentices: Instruct and contribute to their progress assessment as necessary.
12. Comply with Quality System: Ensure maintenance and ongoing certification of the Department's Quality System.
13. Deputise for the Chief MTO: Perform duties as necessary.
