About the role The main duties of this role are: Undertake the street naming and numbering process, which involves interpreting developers’ plans, liaising with developers and Councillors in order to assign addresses to properties and streets. Maintain the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) to the appropriate standards to ensure an accurate and consistent output. As part of the corporate GIS service, undertake geospatial analysis to complement analytical projects and support decision and policy makers. Work with other teams and staff to scope out work including planning the analytical approach and outputs. Create and update cartographic outputs and geographical visualisations, both static and web-based, for use across a range of Council applications and services. Provide support, technical guidance and training on GIS for other services and staff across the Council. Automate the transfer and connection of geospatial data to other systems used by the Council. The team use QGIS, FME, Postgres/PostGIS, iShare GIS and iManage Gazetteer so experience in some or all of these would be a benefit. An understanding of the Local Land and Property Gazetteer (LLPG) and Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) and either experience maintaining these products or a willingness to learn. Experience in this area is highly valued. Experience in producing a range of cartographic outputs and a good understanding of cartographic design principles. Experience automating data transfers and connections between different systems and/or file locations. Familiarity with the geospatial data landscape in England, for example, products from Ordnance Survey. Also, knowledge and understanding of relevant data protection and information security laws and processes. Good communication skills (written and verbal) to work with and provide support to customers, external suppliers and staff from across the Council.
