Job Description
Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: UK (flexible on location, with occasional site travel)
Industry: Wastewater Treatment Solutions
Experience: 3–10 years
Salary: Competitive + benefits (depending on experience)
About Us
We’re a specialist provider of advanced wastewater treatment solutions, delivering sustainable infrastructure across municipal and industrial sectors. We're not a corporate machine — we're a focused, technically driven business where your ideas actually shape outcomes.
The Role
We're looking for a hands-on, technically sharp Process Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll work on the full lifecycle of projects — from initial concept and design through to commissioning and optimisation. This role demands someone who understands the real-world challenges of wastewater treatment, not just the theory.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop wastewater treatment processes for new and existing plants (biological, chemical, physical treatment).
* Undertake mass balances, process modelling, and simulations (e.g., BioWin, GPS-X, or similar).
* Produce PFDs, P&IDs, and support equipment selection/specification.
* Lead or support commissioning and plant performance testing/troubleshooting.
* Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, clients, and subcontractors.
* Prepare and review technical documentation, calculations, and process reports.
* Support bids and proposals with technical input and process innovation.
* About You
o Degree qualified in Chemical, Process, Environmental Engineering, or similar.
o 3–10 years' experience in wastewater treatment — preferably hands-on in the UK market.
o Strong technical understanding of biological and chemical treatment processes (e.g., activated sludge, MBRs, nutrient removal).
o Able to balance office-based design with occasional site work and commissioning.
o Skilled communicator — able to explain the “why” behind your design decisions to clients and colleagues.
Desirable but Not Essential
o Chartered or working towards Chartership (IChemE, CIWEM, etc.).
o Experience with DfMA, modular systems, or smart/automated process control.
o Exposure to industrial effluent treatment.
