The Job You’ll Do;
* Reporting to the Group QHSE Manager, the HSE Lead will provide expert and professional frontline health & safety and environmental services.
* Although this role will be based at the Tyne & Wear branch, it will also involve travel across the UK to other business locations as required.
* This role will be responsible for supporting regional depots, and off-site activities at third party locations.
* Set clear goals and objectives for team members, monitoring progress and providing feedback and support as needed.
* Oversee the scheduling of holidays and manage employee absences, ensuring adequate coverage for essential HSE functions.
* Support operational departments in ensuring COSHH compliance including the maintenance of the company COSHH register.
* Assist with and/or complete regular formal safety inspections and internal audits as required across all depots and field-based operations.
* Lead and coordinate occupational hygiene monitoring, including noise and air quality assessments as required.
* Support operational departments in the ongoing monitoring of employee exposure to vibration and noise, providing guidance on exposure limits and implementation of proportionate control measures.
* Support members of the management team and process owners in the investigation of accidents, near misses and incidents to establish root cause, identify corrective actions and potential improvement opportunities.
* To support the company in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislative and other requirements inclusive of our ISO certified QHSE Management Systems.
* To provide expert, professional health and safety advice, guidance, and support to all interested parties.
* Work in collaboration with operational departments to ensure all activities have been adequately risk assessed, with safe systems of work being agreed, communicated, and understood.
* Lead health and safety committees and cross functional working groups
About You;
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* 5+ years’ experience in a similar position.
* A recognised health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
* A formal recognised environmental qualification such as NEBOSH or IEMA Environmental Certificate.
* Membership of a professional body such as IOSH or IEMA.
* Previous experience of working in a manufacturing or construction environment.
* Strong communicator and the ability to positively influence others
