We are looking for a Buyer to join the Purchasing team, to ensure that the company purchases its raw materials, packaging, and services efficiently, cost-effectively, and to the appropriate quality standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Be market experts in allocated categories.
2. Represent purchasing team at allocated business critical meetings.
3. Develop Procurement category strategies for allocated areas of spend.
4. Implement procurement strategies to maintain security of supply and support business needs.
5. Negotiate contracts with suppliers taking into consideration total cost and service.
6. Forecast price & market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer/supplier power.
7. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce costs & improve effectiveness.
8. Manage vendor performance through vendor rating and act on poor performance.
9. Through joint improvement plans and cross-functional quarterly reviews ensure we get the best from our key suppliers.
10. Promote & bring supplier innovation to wider business to ensure we have competitive edge.
11. Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and strategic supply partners to improve business.
12. Follow escalation process to highlight any risk to planned production or customer service going forward.
13. Work jointly on working capital reduction projects such as extending terms, reducing stock held on site both slow moving and redundant.
14. Deliver agreed PIPS in budget & identify areas to deliver value from allocated categories.

Minimum Requirements:
* Educated to degree level
* Proficient with operating computer systems & Microsoft Packages
* Collaborative, Accountable and Market Expert
* Project management skills, strong communicator, networking
* Food Industry direct spend raw materials & packaging purchasing experience. Track record of delivering in a Buyer level role, responsible for multi-million pound categories.
Desirable:
* MCIPS Qualified
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £36,000.00 per year
Schedule:
* 8 hour shift
* Monday to Friday
