Main duties of the job
A fantastic opportunity has arisen in our hand therapy team based at Queen Alexandra hospital (QAH) in Portsmouth. We are seeking like-minded, enthusiastic, well-motivated Physiotherapists or Occupational Therapists to join our friendly, highly skilled, and supportive team of professionals.
The post is based in the Rehabilitation Centre at QAH. You will be joining a team which provides treatment for patients with complex hand presentations from Orthopedics, Plastics, and Rheumatology services. You will be working in an outpatient setting and gain experience in working in a clinic environment alongside specialist consultants, surgeons, and nurses.
Job responsibilities
As a Band 6, you will have the opportunity to support the Band 7s in service and team development and to develop your leadership and management skills. You will also have access to structured supervision, regular in-service training and the opportunity to participate in audit, service development and attend local hand specialist network meetings and study days.
We may consider a development role for the right candidate with less experience.
We would be happy to consider flexible working/part time hours, and this can be discussed as part of the interview process.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Bsc (Hons) in Occupational therapy or Physiotherapy
* Health Professions Council registration
* BAHT at level 1
* Evidence of relevant hand therapy training course
* Member of BAHT
Experience
* Relevant hand therapy or MSK experience in outpatient setting
* NHS experience or system comparable to NHS.
* Documented evidence of CPD and recent, relevant, training courses
* Experience of supervising students & teaching junior staff / assistance
* Experience with custom made thermoplastic splinting techniques
* Experience of audit or service evaluation
Additional criteria
* Knowledge of a broad range of hand conditions and hand injuries
* Ability to assess, manage & treat hand conditions and injuries effectively at a basic level, including use of outcome measures.
* Knowledge of clinical governance and CQC and its implications for services
* Knowledge of Health/Safety issues
* Knowledge of audit process
* Knowledge of best practice in hand therapy
