The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of robust, cloud-native data architectures tailored to large-scale financial services organisations. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and client stakeholders to build secure, scalable, and insight-driven data platforms that support decision-making across underwriting, claims, investment, and risk functions.
This is a strategic leadership role for someone who combines deep technical knowledge with a strong understanding of the insurance and asset management landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
* Architect scalable and secure data platforms using Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and modern lakehouse patterns.
* Design and implement data solutions aligned with the needs of Tier 1 and Tier 2 insurance and asset management clients, considering sector-specific regulatory and operational demands.
* Define and promote enterprise data modelling, real-time data processing, and cloud-native architecture best practices.
* Implement robust data governance, quality, and lineage frameworks to ensure transparency and compliance.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align architecture with business needs and data strategies.
* Mentor engineers and analysts, providing architectural direction and promoting technical excellence.
* Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and trends, continuously improving platform capability and performance.
Essential Criteria:
* Extensive experience as a Senior Data Architect or Lead Data Engineer, ideally within consulting or large enterprise environments.
* Proven expertise with Azure, Databricks, and associated data tooling (e.g., Synapse, Delta Lake, Azure Data Factory).
* Strong understanding of data architecture within the insurance and asset management industries, including regulatory and compliance requirements.
* Proficiency in SQL, Python, and modern data pipeline design (ETL/ELT).
* Experience with both batch and streaming data processing architectures.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with business users in financial services.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to lead end-to-end architecture initiatives and manage change in complex environments.
What’s on Offer:
* Competitive base salary of £75,000–£135,000 per annum.
* 20% annual bonus.
* Comprehensive benefits package including pension, private medical insurance, and wellness programmes.
* Flexible hybrid working from central London offices.
* High-impact role working with leading insurance firms and asset managers.
* Long-term career growth within a firm committed to innovation and digital excellence.
