Job Title: Substance Use Practitioner Council Council for Social Witness - Carlisle House Substance Misuse Treatment Centre Salary Scale: NJC points 25-30 (£32,020 - £36,294 per annum) Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (Monday Friday, 9am 5pm) Responsible to: Director of Carlisle House Main function of Job: To provide biopsychosocial therapeutic interventions within a Substance Misuse Residential Treatment Programme. To ensure the execution of excellent standards of care, to promote dignity and respect, and to engage with Service Users in the process of change through building a strong collaborative therapeutic alliance. MAIN DUTIES Working with Service Users 1. To work within a systemic model of treatment when engaging with Service Users. 2. To assist in the admission and induction of Service Users to the Residential Substance Misuse Treatment Programme, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures. 3. To provide a range of treatment interventions for service users of which the core intervention is group therapy. 4. Facilitate therapeutic group work 5. To manage an individual caseload through Link Work, promoting Service User strengths and expertise in developing, reviewing and updating treatment plans as required. 6. To participate in the feedback process with service users as appropriate, in collaboration with other team members. 7. To facilitate post programme support groups as required 8. To be responsible for the day to day management of medicines: ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered, in accordance with Carlisle House policies and current legislation and guidelines. 9. To undertake Self Administration of Medication Risk Assessments, and ensure outcomes are recorded and adhered to accordingly. 10. To carry out administration of medication audits in line with RQIA requirements. 11. To undertake health checks with regard to Service Users participating in physical activities. 12. To ensure a rigorous monitoring and recording practice is adhered to. 13. To respond to Helpline calls when required 14. To carry out alcohol/drug screening tests in accordance with Carlisle House policies and procedures when required. 15. To participate in training courses and staff meetings as appropriate. 16. To promote a cohesive team approach, and a welcoming atmosphere to all Service Users, their families and staff. 17. To engage as a reflective practitioner participating in continual professional development and meeting the requirements of professional requirements. 18. To meaningfully participate in clinical supervision 19. To adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures. 20. To be willing to work within the ethos of the Carlisle House and the Presbyterian Council of Social Witness 21. Participate in an On-Call rota 22. To participate in the assessment and management of risk 23. To undertake any other relevant duties which may be required of the post. CRITERIA 1. Qualifications and Knowledge Essential Recognised Social Work Degree or Registered Mental Health Nurse Knowledge of addiction and treatment models Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Outlook / Word / Excel Desirable Post-registration training in addiction-related studies Post Graduate Certificate in Systemic Practice or equivalent qualification 2. Relevant Experience Essential At least 1 years experience in a relevant area of mental health or addiction, using a strength base model to assess need and formulating effective treatment plans Experience in facilitating Group Work / Group Therapy Experience of working with substance use and associated complex health needs 3. Personal Attributes Essential Good oral and written communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work on own initiative, to work under pressure and prioritise workload Ability to stay calm and think quickly in challenging circumstances Experience of communicating effectively and to develop appropriate working relationships with both service users and other professionals Experience in engaged reflective practice 4.
