Department Function Job Summary/Purpose: The role of the Director of Cladding Remediation is to provide strong visible leadership to the Cladding Remediation function, with overarching responsibility and accountability to ensure that a safe, efficient and comprehensive remediation solution is delivered for every building in scope, to ensure Taylor Wimpey delivers on its commitments for assessment and remediation under agreements with governments.
You will provide inspirational leadership to the team to deliver exceptional customer service, high construction quality, compliant commercial controls and management of our financial provision, with particular attention to CDM health and safety compliance, to provide an industry leading remediation approach.
You will have full responsibility around the quality and performance related to external and internal communications, stakeholder relationships, remediation quality, and are expected to advise the company on changing legislative and reputational positions, whilst proactively driving continuous improvement, challenging the status quo and identifying operational enhancements.
The Director of Cladding Remediation is responsible for building a high performance team, ensuring the culture and team environment across the cladding remediation team is consistent with Taylor Wimpey values and expectations. They are expected to ensure the sustainable performance of the cladding team, it is important to ensure the team is appropriately managed, supported, driven and challenged while maintaining capability and ensuring an open honest and trusting environment across the team.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership and Culture
1. Provide strong and inspiring leadership across the function.
2. Drive employee engagement and satisfaction through a collaborative and empowering leadership approach.
3. Drive sustainable performance through active ownership of the talent and performance management agenda for the business unit.
4. Develop high performance teams by ensuring the recruitment, development, and retention of high potential people within leadership roles.
5. Communicate and role model the Taylor Wimpey Cultural Principles.
6. Lead the cladding board of directors responsible for building assessments, design and technical, commercial, production, communications and customer service, finance, and recovery actions.
Business Management
1. Ensure all current and emerging CDM H&S procedures, processes and standards are adopted and actively maintained in line with our internal governance requirements, legal obligations, strategic goals and regulations, and that all employees always remain safe and employees are suitably trained.
2. Responsible for commercial control and financial delivery of the Groups cladding provision, in accordance with Taylor Wimpey governance controls.
3. Overseeing effective communication with all stakeholders including leaseholders, management companies, managing agents, politicians and freeholders.
4. Managing and developing relationships with government officials in relation to fire safety and cladding remediation works.
5. Responsible for ensuring effective contract negotiation with contractors, consultants, freeholders and management companies.
6. Ensure awareness of political, regulatory, industry related and environmental developments which may impact on delivery.
7. Responsible for ensuring coordinated media management as required through corporate communication teams.
8. General awareness of insurance on remediation schemes.
Operational Excellence
1. Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the function ensuring practises and processes are regularly reviewed, enhanced, and optimised.
2. Maintain a close working relationship across the function by regularly undertaking site visits.
3. Ensure awareness of political, industry related and environmental developments which may impact TW.
Customer Delivery
1. Embed and drive a customer focused culture by driving sustainable improvements and sharing best practises as a consequence of customer feedback and insight.
2. Drive a continuous improvement culture which improves the customer experience.
3. Ensure visibility of Cladding remediation operations across our business units and lessons learned are shared broadly across the business.
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
1. Experience of stakeholder engagement and building industry contacts.
2. Entrepreneurial skills, breadth of view beyond traditional approaches.
3. Strong networker, totally committed to community involvement.
4. Ability to establish a strategic plan for the function and to deliver it.
5. High standard of financial literacy & analytical skills, of financial returns.
6. Experience of overseeing occupied remediation schemes with medium and high-rise developments.
7. A working knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Self-Remediation Terms, PAS9980 and EWS1, and the Building Safety Regulator.
