The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a huge strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customer and our country. ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world, and BT is proud to be the official supplier providing mission-critical and trusted communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and build upon EE’s existing 4G network to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users.
This role shall ensure that any new ESN projects and ESN services are managed from concept through to in-life operations whilst ensuring effective, efficient operations services are provided by our ESN supplier portfolio.
The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
1. Lead and manage ESN operational suppliers across diverse RAN technologies, ensuring contract compliance and alignment with ESN objectives.
2. Oversee financial accountability for supplier contracts and ongoing operational expenditures.
3. Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders for optimal ESN operational performance.
4. Act as the primary technical interface with ESN vendors, managing escalations, investigations, and performance through governance forums.
5. Drive improvement and high performance across ESN Critical National Infrastructure and support RFP tenders for new services.

1. Storytelling with data: skills in building the case for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, and communicating this to business audiences.
2. Project Management fundamentals: skills in project delivery, linkage to end-customer/subscriber experience and milestone definition and tracking to assure project success.
3. Business acumen: Knowledgeable in contracts, budgets, forecasting, supplier commercial behaviours and the drivers of organisational performance.
4. Personal skills: Strong communication and presentation skills from engineering level communications up to management level dashboard creation.
5. Knowledge of radio access network (RAN) performance KPIs and user experience matrix.
