Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team.
In conjunction with the Ophthalmology Unit Manager, Ophthalmic Matron and Multidisciplinary Team, you will lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care across the department. Strong, professional leadership qualities are needed at this level to deliver high quality of care, staff morale and the learning environment.
You will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure departmental compliance with, and application of, hospital policies and procedures.
Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance
You are expected to be flexible with roster to meet service needs and expected to be part in the on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the Team Leaders and Matron establish direction and purpose, inspire, motivate and empower departmental team around the common goals to provide real improvements in clinical practice, quality and services.
To participate in clinic rota and daily allocations and to participate in on call rota both social and unsocial hours.
Be individually motivated, self-aware, socially skilled and able to work across professional and organisational boundaries and facilitate clinical development of staff members and with the Team Leaders formulate strategies which support staff development.
Establish and maintain a high profile with patients, carers and all staff involving, advising and using counselling skills as required and deputise for delegated tasks as deemed appropriate by the Ophthalmology Theatre Manager/Matron/Clinical Service Manager/General Manager.
