We're seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our multi-skilled facilities team based in Huddersfield, also providing support to other sites within the wider estate.

What You'll Do:
Preventative Maintenance
1. Carry out scheduled inspections on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and other infrastructure systems.
2. Document tasks with photos and maintain records to ensure equipment efficiency.
3. Assist in planning routine maintenance to prevent equipment failures.
General Repairs
1. Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and plumbing issues.
2. Repair or replace components such as faucets, light fixtures, motors, and more.
3. Maintain building exteriors through tasks like painting and minor structural repairs.
Safety and Compliance
1. Conduct safety inspections, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions.
2. Keep accurate records of safety measures and inspections.
Emergency Repairs
1. Respond promptly to emergencies, including power outages, plumbing issues, and HVAC malfunctions.
2. Coordinate with external vendors when specialised repairs are required.
Facility Upgrades and Installations
1. Support the installation or renovation of building systems and equipment.
2. Collaborate with contractors on large-scale projects and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
Inventory and Equipment Management
1. Maintain and manage tools and equipment.
2. Keep precise records of equipment usage, purchases, and repairs.
Collaboration and Coordination
1. Work closely with other departments to ensure efficient facility operations.
2. Provide input on maintenance needs and report on ongoing projects.
What We're Looking For:
1. Extensive experience in building maintenance or a related field.
2. An excellent working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems along with basic carpentry, welding, and painting.
3. Experience with job ticketing systems like Jira is a plus!
4. Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly.
5. This is a physically demanding role with the requirement to stand for prolonged periods, climb ladders, and work in various environments both indoors and outdoors.
6. Strong verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with peers, contractors, and management.
7. Attention to detail is key to ensure all work meets safety standards and is completed efficiently.
