Job summary Advert may close early due to high volume of applications Mortuary services for South Tees NHS Foundation Trust and North Tees and HartlepoolNHS Foundation Trust are provided collaboratively between the two Trusts and there is a requirement for the post holder to work across Trusts and sites as required. Post mortems are undertaken at James Cook Mortuary and the post holder is required to undertake non post mortem mortuary duties within North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and provide advice and support to staff within the Trust. Main duties of the job Work closely with Trust consultant Histopathologists, trainee SPR, external forensic pathologists and local Coroners Services to enable the provision of a high quality and responsive mortuary service undertaking hospital consented and post mortems as directed by the Coroner Work directly with funeral services to receive and return patient's into their care so funeral arrangements can proceed Communicate effectively with other Pathology departments to organise histological, toxicology or blood testing required on patient samples. Liaise with hospital staff and directly with relatives of the patient to arrange and conduct viewings Work closely with Bereavement Services to ensure patients can be released promptly The post holder will assist in the maintenance and development of the mortuary quality system including production and review of standard operating protocols (SOPs), training, development and competency assessment of other mortuary staff and completion of audits.
