As part of our dynamic Finance Department, we are looking for a highly motivated Senior Ledger Clerk to take ownership of our sales ledger operations and drive improvements in reporting and process efficiency. Position Overview As a Senior Ledger Clerk, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the sales ledger, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, debt collection, and month-end processes. Reporting to the Ledger Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting the finance team in delivering key business insights. Key Responsibilities Invoicing Review and process sales ledger billing in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with SOX controls. Assess and document credit requests, maintaining records for audits. Maintain accurate customer records and ensure ledger completeness. Debt Collection Accurately allocate BACS, cheque, and cash payments, liaising with the treasury team. Manage Direct Debit collections, setting up new mandates as required. Prepare and send monthly statements and collection letters. Communicate invoice and statement details for national accounts. Handle disputes and claims collections, working with relevant teams. Maintain legal recoveries on a monthly basis. Month-End Tasks Prepare monthly aged debtors reports and bad debt provisions. Conduct monthly credit note reviews. Process accruals and prepayments. Analyse monthly income, comparing actual vs. budget figures. Perform balance sheet reconciliations. Ad Hoc & Continuous Improvement Support the ledger team with additional tasks as needed. Assist the Ledger Supervisor and Financial Controller with ad-hoc financial analysis. Contribute to the automation and improvement of finance processes. Required Skills & Experience Experience with Sage X3 (Preferred) Intermediate Excel skills (Essential) Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook (Preferred) High level of numeracy and accuracy (Essential) Organized and methodical approach (Essential) Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills (Preferred) Flexible and adaptable attitude (Essential) Self-motivated and proactive (Essential) What is the benefits package for this role?
