Turbine Engineer (Gas & Steam)
Reporting to Functional Manager - Engineering
Based in: Teesside (Middlesbrough).

Position Overview:
Working as part of the Engineering Team, the Turbine Engineer shall support daily engineering breakdown issues and provide leadership for all turbine outage events. The Turbine Engineer will work closely with the OEM to prepare a scope of work and specification for each annual outage, ensuring all material spares and consumables are readily available.
The Turbine Engineer will have overall responsibility for compliance and technical issues associated with Sembcorp’s Steam and Gas Turbines and drive continuous improvement. This role involves collaboration with Operations, Inspection, SHE, Performance, and Maintenance functions to ensure clear 5 & 10-year asset plans are developed and maintained, ensuring legal compliance at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Encourage a culture of safety first.
2. Champion compliance with all Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and statutory requirements.
3. Become an expert regarding Sembcorp’s Gas and Steam Turbines.
4. Familiarize with Sembcorp’s Large Scale Feedwater Pumps and Compressors.
5. Support and sustain operation through Planned Maintenance Optimisation and Asset Tactics.
6. Initiate, lead and deliver projects and solutions to meet strategic objectives.
7. Seek new and emerging technologies and methodologies to achieve the "Best Available Technology".
8. Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and quality assurance/control.
9. Provide technical advice and support for all mechanical rotating equipment and design code requirements.
10. Maintain an up-to-date Technical Library, asset criticality study, critical spares holding, 10-year plan, planned maintenance schedule, and inspection program.
11. Represent the company as a technical expert in discussions with external organisations.
12. Work with the Maintenance and Planning Manager to prioritize and schedule work efficiently.
13. Ensure detailed asset performance figures are available and reported.
14. Provide out of hours support to the project, maintenance, and operations departments as needed.
15. Work with the Outage Team to complete mechanical specifications and work scopes in line with gated process timescales.
Essential Qualifications:
1. Degree Qualified (BEng Mechanical Engineering).
2. Excellent knowledge of Gas/Steam Turbines (specifically GE (Mark 5&6) and Siemens).
3. Sound knowledge of Rotating Equipment (Pumps, Compressors).
4. Excellent knowledge of Industry British Standards and Relevant Design Codes.
5. Excellent management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
6. Experience in engineering and equipment maintenance in a plant area or similar operation.
7. IT skills (Outlook, Maximo, spreadsheets, word processing, Microsoft Project).
8. Up to date with best practice maintenance and engineering techniques.
9. Excellent awareness and implementation of SHE requirements.
10. Good influencing skills and commercial awareness.
11. Good report writing, communication, and meeting skills.
12. High concern for standards and personal resilience.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Turnaround Experience.
2. Understanding of large scale Industrial Boiler Systems.
