Job summary Ward 35 is a fast paced 26 bedded elective and emergency surgical ward specialising in ENT, OMFS, Plastic and burns and Ophthalmology. The work is centred about caring for patients with head and neck cancers, reconstructive surgery following cancer or major trauma as well as minor procedures. Please note if you do not have the qualifications or experience marked as essential for a Band 3 role, you will be appointed at a Band 2. Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role. Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9) Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications. Support and training will be provided for all candidate The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), undertaking personal care activities, delegated clinical care duties including clinical observations as directed by registered professionals and within clearly defined parameters, to provide healthcare and support that is individualised to the patient needs. The post holder will update and maintain accurate records of any care provision and update and escalate any concerns from their observations and activities to the appropriate registered professional.
