Job Introduction

Business and Operations NI manages all aspects of BBC Northern Ireland's technical and operational requirements. This includes the provision of Broadcast Facilities, Craft Expertise, Design and development of technical solutions, project management of procurement, installation, changing working practices and providing on-going technical support. In addition, we provide all the operational activities required to produce a wide variety of content on a wide range of media platform including TV, Radio, Online and more recently several social media platforms.
Main Responsibilities
As part of the team, Media Operators provide Ingest, Outgest, transcription, preparation of edit suites, operational support to Craft Editors, media preparation and other media manipulation services as required to ensure the smooth running of Post Production. In addition, they provide global first and second line support for the BBC's file delivery system. The team ensure media is where it needs to be when it needs to be there in the format it is required. Media Operators maintain defined production media standards to ensure the highest quality programs are delivered to BBC and external delivery standards.
Are you the right candidate?
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following:
* Knowledge of Broadcast Operations / technology.
* An understanding of media management techniques, IT and the Post Production Process.
* Knowledge of codec's, wrappers and metadata systems.
* Be able to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
* Must be able to demonstrate enthusiasm and drive together with the resilience required to work in an environment which often has tight delivery deadlines.
* Good understanding of the business structure and key stakeholders within BBC Northern Ireland and the wider BBC.
In addition to the above candidates must:
* Be flexible in working time in order to ensure the 24x7 nature of broadcasting is supported.
* Be prepared to travel; contributing to Production projects; developing and maintaining effective working relationships with other parts of the BBC and its third party suppliers.
