Following many years of successful programmes, we are delighted to be recruiting for the next cohort of our Apprenticeship Programme for September 8th 2025 start, with brand new higher-level opportunities available in our Technical and Commercial departments.
We have the opportunity for an Apprentice Engineer to join our North Home Counties division based in Milton Keynes.
How does the apprenticeship programme work?
Our exciting and innovative Apprenticeship Programmes are designed to attract and develop a diverse range of talented individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and success of our business. You will be studying towards a degree level qualification in Civil Engineering, and we anticipate this will be delivered by University of Hertfordshire. Alongside your day-to-day role, you will be allocated one day per week to attend in-person sessions at the University of Hertfordshire campus (Hatfield, AL10 9AB) and work on your qualification. All travel required will be provided by Bellway.
After your first year on programme as an apprentice, you will be a Trainee Engineer, working your way to becoming an Assistant Engineer in another year’s time. By the end of the 5-year programme, you will be a qualified Engineer. As part of Bellway’s structured pay scale over the duration of the higher-level apprenticeship, you will earn planned salary increments to enhance your earning potential (dependent on individual performance and other contributory factors).
Upon completion of the programme, subject to business need and performance you may have the opportunity to continue your future with Bellway, where Engineering career paths may include:
* Engineering/Technical Manager
* Head of Technical
* Technical Director
The Role
As an Apprentice Engineer, you will work as part of the Technical Department. The Technical team are involved before the land is purchased. They create detailed plans to ensure all building materials are bought and in place at the right time.
Some key responsibilities of the role include:
* Assist with the delivery of technical information for new and current developments.
* Assist the Technical team with all Engineering related work.
* Liaise with Local Authorities and Water Authorities.
* Assist with designing roads, drainage and external works for smaller developments.
* Liaise closely with Construction department.
What do I achieve?
* A nationally recognised degree-level qualification – Level 6 BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering
* Course Duration: up to 5 years, plus end point assessment (EPA)
* Transferable skills such as leadership and communication

We are looking for apprentices with 112-120 UCAS Tariff points from a combination of any of the below:
* A-Level (BBB-BBC including Mathematics at grade C and preferably a Science subject)
* BTEC Extended Diploma (DDM-DMM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of Distinction in Further Mathematics)
Additional requirements include five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent. A-Level: must also include a pass in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Computing/Computer Science, Design and Technology, Electronics, Engineering, ICT, Further Mathematics, Music Technology, Physics, Statistics.
You must also:
* Have a willingness to travel around the UK and stay away from home for short periods of time
* Have the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
* Be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK
The Recruitment Process

Video Interview: Successful applicants will be invited to complete a Video Interview. This is a one-way video interview that you can record in your own time.
Assessment Centre: The final stage in the process is a half-day virtual assessment centre where you will complete a presentation, team activity and competency-based interview.
