We’re supporting our client, a leading global automation company based in Telford, who are looking for a Robot Programmer to join their growing team. The successful Robot Programmer will have experience in programming, installing and commissioning robotics; furthermore, will have worked with ABB, Kuka or Fanuc robotics.
Position Overview:
As a Robot Programmer, you'll be responsible for completing the setup and installation of robots from a single robot to multiple robot cells. Your primary focus will be ensuring all equipment is in working order and promoting good communication within the robotic department as well as other departments to ensure a quality product. The Robot Programmer will also assist and train other robot technicians as required.
Responsibilities for Robot Programmer:
1. Program robot paths, set up program structure and implement offline programming
2. Configure robot IO (Input/ Output), weld interface and program call
3. Set up structure for robot programs
4. Provide robotic support and training as required
5. Develop and control program structure as jobs progress
6. Work on robot drawings and configurations
7. Train and work with other programmers to enhance skill level
8. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics and specifications
9. Order materials for robots
10. Anticipate and solve robotic problems (troubleshoot)
11. Operate various tools and equipment including precision equipment (testers), megger, scope
12. Fastening down of tooling and robots
13. Work closely with Robot Supervisor regarding projects, monitoring workload and deadlines
14. Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner and know how to properly lock out all energy sources, including stored energy
15. Program, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial robotic systems
16. Develop robot programs using native programming languages
About You:
1. Qualified to a minimum HNC level or equivalent in Manufacturing/ Electrical/ Mechatronics Engineering
2. Minimum 3 years’ experience in programming robots (5 years is desirable)
3. Hands-on experience programming robots ABB/ Kuka/ Fanuc
4. Good understanding of IO, transfer of information between Robot and PLC, and PLC Functionality
5. Good understanding of robot program flow and basic programming theories
6. Knowledge of ISO robotic safety standards and how they apply
7. Experience in robotic spot welding, mig welding, material handling is required
8. Practical experience and good understanding of electrical circuitry and wiring
9. Sound mechanical ability to work on robot dress packages and peripheral equipment
10. Computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD
11. Proven ability and willingness to train and lead others
