The Role
As Credit Controller, you will oversee the company’s credit policies and processes to manage risk and maintain healthy cash flow. You will work with both local and international customers, leveraging your expertise in credit management and your knowledge of global trade practices.
Key Responsibilities;
* Manage and monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and maintain credit limits.
* Conduct credit checks on new and existing clients, assessing risk and setting terms.
* Proactively follow up on overdue accounts, negotiating payment plans where necessary.
* Collaborate with the sales and finance teams to resolve payment disputes and queries.
* Maintain accurate records of transactions and prepare regular debtor reports for management.
* Monitor and manage currency risk and payment terms associated with international trade.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
* Provide recommendations to improve credit processes and minimize exposure to bad debt.
About You
To excel in this role, you will need:
* Proven experience in a credit control role, ideally within an international trade environment.
* Experience of Sage 200
* An additional Language is beneficial (ideally French!)
* Strong understanding of credit risk assessment and management principles.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong customer relationships.
* Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Knowledge of international trade practices, including payment terms, incoterms, and currency management.
* Proficiency in financial systems and tools; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
* A proactive, results-oriented approach and a collaborative attitude.
