The school comprises of 15 classes and our present role of nursery pupils is 66 across 3 Nursery sessions, AM and PM or an option for full day placement. In the ELC we have an Early Years Officer, 6 full time EYPs, 2 part time EYPs and 3 PSWs. The leadership team comprises of one Head teacher, one Depute Head teacher, two Principal Teacher’s and one ELC Area Support Manager.
The role of the Early Years Officer will be to lead the work of the Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) team within Parkhead Nursery Class, working in consultation with the school senior leadership team to take a lead role in all organisation arrangements within the nursery. The Early Years Officer is a key post within the school leadership structure and will develop, model and promote high quality learning and play experiences for all children within the setting. They will ensure effective partnership working with staff, parents and other appropriate professionals.
The setting is open 50 weeks per year and the successful candidate will be required to work flexibly across the opening hours as part of a rota. Please note you will be required to work school holidays when our ELC setting will remain open.
This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
