The post fulfils the role of Artistic Director for the Richard Burton Company, planning in collaboration with the acting, musical theatre and wider drama teams a challenging, diverse and bespoke repertoire for drama performance across Acting and Musical Theatre of the highest possible quality and reflecting RWCMD’s context in Wales. The role will be working as a key member of the College Artistic Planning Group to ensure an innovative public programme in Drama overall aligned with RWCMD’s strategic objectives. The postholder oversees the Acting and Musical Theatre degrees and has overall responsibility for providing a learning environment for the Acting and Musical Theatre students that offers every opportunity to develop their potential through working across a range of professional environments. They will also oversee the start of a new suite of Masters in Fine Arts courses in Directing, Writing, Movement and Voice. A key aspect of the role will be to consider further innovation within the course portfolio, responding to industry change, the opportunities of digital and screen, andinterdisciplinary and collaborative practice including with Music. The Head of Drama Performance is responsible for developing the College’s profile, industry partnerships and participation within relevant networks nationally and internationally; and for championing the department’s widening access, recruitment and inclusivity strategies.
