Paediatric Consultant with Neonatal Interest

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced Paediatrician to join and complement our existing team providing a comprehensive service on a fixed-term basis. This post requires a person with wide experience to join the team of consultants supported by full middle-grade cover.
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will be joining a team of 8 other consultants to deliver patient care in acute paediatrics, neonates, level 3 safeguarding and outpatient clinics.
1. Acute paediatric rota (1:8) including attending hot weeks. Providing level 3 safeguarding advice.
2. General Paediatric OPD and specialist clinics (high risk neonatal developmental follow up).
3. Contribute to safety, governance and development of the on-site neonatal unit (LNU).
Job Responsibilities
1. Participation in an acute paediatric consultant of the week rota (1 in 8 weeks) covering the Children's Ward and assessment unit areas.
2. Participation in an acute neonatal consultant of the week rota (1 in 8 weeks).
3. Out of hours on-call rota (evening and night, non-resident).
4. Responsible for own outpatient caseloads including admin.
5. Work closely with obstetric colleagues for advice and guidance requests.
Person Specification
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
* Full GMC Registration, with a Licence to Practice.
* Undertaken programme of training acceptable to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health for appointment to Consultant Status.
* Higher Degree.
* Entry on the Specialist Register via CCT, CESR or European Community Rights.
EXPERIENCE AND ATTAINMENTS
* Evidence of specific training in Neonates (12 months including tertiary NNU, neonatal transport and/or Paediatric Intensive care).
* Able to take responsibility for delivering the service without direct supervision.
* Experience of DGH work.
* Level 3 safeguarding training.
* APLS provider.
* NLS provider.
* Communication Skills Training Programme or willing to attend.
* Subspecialty interest (SPIN/GRID).
SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Leadership and Organisational Skills.
* Ability to organise and manage priorities.
* Management ability and understanding (or willingness to learn).
KNOWLEDGE/UNDERSTANDING
* Appropriate to the holding of a Consultant Paediatrician.
* Demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the principles of Clinical Governance.
* Evidence of participation in Clinical Audit.
* Evidence of teaching skills.
* Evidence of involvement in Clinical Research.
