About the role
We are looking to add a Lead Automation Engineer to our autonomous platform team; a critical role as we transition from an operating prototype of a mechanised downhole delivery platform to finalising the design and build of the production version. You will be running a small team of systems and mechanical engineers, alongside our friendly and knowledgeable engineering teams across the group. The position is based at our design and build facilities in Welshpool, WA. The Lead Automation Engineer is a critical role in delivering this market-leading technology and continuing to push the boundaries in autonomy.
What you will be doing
* Lead, manage, and support a small Automation team in achieving project and department goals;
* Principal system design and equipment selection to deliver autonomous outcomes for customers, including considering different implementations for different applications;
* Engineering contributor to the OBI Autonomous product roadmap, through innovative ideation;
* Providing a detailed understanding of system capability & how it delivers on customer needs;
* Generating and maintaining detailed designs and drawings, with a goal to outsource production builds in order to scale.
What you will bring
* Mechatronics or Control Systems Engineering Degree or similar;
* Demonstrated history of managing small to large scale projects as a Technical Lead;
* Experience working with some or all of the following: PLC programming (CODESYS), Automation, SCADA, Control Systems, CANopen, Vision Systems, electrical design and stabilisation is highly desired;
* Experience or willingness to lead a small team of mechanical and control systems engineers;
* A safety focus with a commitment to operating and designing with regards to all applicable regulations;
* History of adhering to timelines and budget constraints.
