An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Lead - Electrical Engineering within the Naval Engineering department, reporting to the Engineering Manager - Naval.
This role requires strong leadership, communication, technical expertise, and planning skills to ensure the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable electrical engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle for our Naval Handling products, which include Replenishment at Sea (RAS) Systems and Mission Bay Handling Systems.
Due to security restrictions, the successful candidate will be required to attain UK BPSS and SC Clearance with no caveats.
What you will be doing
* Overall leadership and management of the electrical engineering team based in the UK and Europe.
* Ensuring the electrical engineering team has the appropriate people, processes, and tools to successfully execute its scope, and taking a proactive lead to rectify where there are deficiencies.
* Estimating and delivering in accordance with the estimate, electrical engineering scope for all projects including Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engineering design, in-service support, Research & Development (R&D), and New Sales Opportunities.
* Manage project budgets, resources, and schedules for all electrical engineering scope.
* Monitor and analyse project performance metrics, implementing improvements where necessary.
* Collaborate with clients, internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
* Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering professional development.
* Build an innovation culture within the team to ensure our products remain at the cutting edge of naval technology.
* Develop electrical engineering solutions that meet customer requirements.
* Provide technical reference/guidance to equipment suppliers, internal departments, and customers. Approve/witness factory tests and inspections at supplier’s works.
* Manage supplier interfaces and provide technical assistance/approval to suppliers.
* Check the technical work of others and provide technical guidance to colleagues in other departments and to suppliers and customers.
We think you should have
* Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or Control Engineering (master’s degree preferred).
* Chartered Engineer preferred.
* Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering leadership relevant to this role.
* Proven experience (10+ years) in electrical engineering relevant to this role.
* Experience of working in a highly regulated industry.
* Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
* Proven ability to design and prepare detailed electrical schematics, single line diagrams, and cable schedules.
* Proficiency in electrical engineering software and tools (2D and 3D) relevant to the marine industry.
* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
* Strong people and communication skills, both verbal and written.
