What's the role about? This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team supporting the full range of the RSPB’s developer work. You’ll use your technical expertise to help us deliver and evolve the capabilities of our public-facing website and several other key systems, finding innovative solutions to meet the needs of conservation aims and our global supporter community. Working closely with the product team and subject matter experts across the RSPB, you will work in an Agile fashion to deliver value to conservation staff quickly and consistently. Depending on the nature of requirements, you may be building new functionality into existing applications, or helping to define and deliver new solutions, using the best blend of technologies to ensure successful delivery. Working with colleagues across the organisation, you will support the full range of the RSPB’s work, varying from our management of over 220 nature reserves to our world-class scientific research, and delivery of landscape scale conservation, to name but a few. You will work alongside experienced developers within the Technical Engineering team and have the opportunity to grow your knowledge of front and back-end development, APIs, systems integration and working as part of a high performing Agile team. The ability to work unsupervised in a flexible/remote/hybrid setting is a must. Essential skills, knowledge and experience Experience of working under Agile principles to develop complex applications Strong experience of C#/JavaScript/HTML/CSS to deliver intuitive, modern, user-friendly applications Experience of at least one of the following JavaScript frameworks: Angular, React or Vue Experience in writing unit tests Knowledge of maintaining and managing APIs A keen interest in web technologies and keeping skills current The ability to communicate effectively with a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating initiative with a positive and proactive attitude Desirable skills, knowledge and experience: Experience working with source code repositories Experience working with SCCS and TypeScript Experience writing new APIs Experience working with cloud and CICD technologies Experience of the Angular framework Knowledge/experience of SQL Knowledge/experience of conservation work and systems Knowledge/experience working with CMS/DAM This is a Permanent, Full-Time role for 37.5 hours per week.
